Psychological Health and Safety Workplace Assessment
All workplaces in Canada already have some components of PHS, but they might not recognize how they all fit together. That's why starting with the PHS assessment, in person or virtually, is the most practical way to begin, to assess what you have and learn what you need.
The Mental Health Commission of Canada, Opening Minds, has developed a workplace Psychological Health and Safety (PHS) Assessment to measure how well PHS is integrated into your workplace. Similar to other types of workplace assessments, utilizing documentation review, employee interviews, and observations to validate workplace processes and systems, which results in the achievement score for your organization.
The Opening Minds PHS Workplace Assessment aligns with the Canadian Standard for Psychological Safety (CSA Z1003), and the International Standard (ISO 45003). Every PHS Assessment must pass rigorous quality assurance standards before providing the organization with recommendations and an action plan to support your strategic planning. Utilizing customized software in partnership with AuditSoft, Opening Minds has designed this comprehensive process to measure your organization's systems to help protect and support workers.
The PHS Assessment includes:
Comprehensive support, including meetings with organization principals prior to commencing the assessment to set expectations, identify challenges, and plan an efficient assessment process to ensure a stress free experience for your organization.
The OM PHS Assessment: A comprehensive review of relevant documentation, including policies, processes, and programs. One-on-one interviews with employees from all levels of the organization. As well as observations related to PHS integration within your organization. This ensures that the reach and depth of your current process, practices and resources are thoroughly explored to benchmark your achievements.
Deliverables to the organization:

Reporting: Detailed report to support the organization’s decision-making processes and prioritization to support evolving systems and practises.

Presentation of Findings: Presentation for executive team or organization principals about the results, achievement score, highlighting the opportunities of where to improve PHS in your workplace and call attention to and celebrate the areas of successes already in place.

Action Plan: A customizable action plan with steps and actions to help organize, prioritize, and track opportunities in progress.
